The cavalcade of news about Fanisode winners continues! This week, The Colorado Springs Gazette featured a great story about our round #5 winner Jan Naugle (pictured).

from The Colorado Springs Gazette

The media love Ratgurrlz!

Round #1's Luna Foxx must be getting used to the celebrity treatment. She graced the airwaves in the United Kingdom in a great television spot about the Fanisode on England's Channel4 News. We'll post a link to the video as soon as we get it!

Okay Ladies and Gents, it's time once again to play Scenes from the Attic, everyone's favorite Fanisode feature where we dust off those undiscovered scenes from rounds past and give them the credit they deserve!

Let's start with the most requested scene yet: Round #5's Unravelling the Catalyst by QuillinEmSoftly. This scene was nominated by several members, including DigOphelia, ErvinV, Frumple and Ckrenshaw who cites many reasons for its popularity: "...it gives Tina's character a little background... captures that classic Dana sense of humor...  shows how multi facetted Alice/Dana are [and] Alice’s first big step into the dark side of stalker."

Round #1's famous writing couple Ratgurrlz want you to go back and check-out to round #4's Home Is Where LA Is by Galey78 because "Galey made Dr Perez's character warm and compassionate." and "This was the only scene from the round where Shane is considerate enough to mention that the decision to have Carmen move in is up to Jenny as well."

Next, we'll dive deep into the depths of round #1 for another scene nominated by round #1's winner ErvinV. The scene is Amends by the "wicked and wonderful" FantasyGirl. All ErvinV has to say about it is "it's The L Word meets American Psycho."

Finally, if you're still hankerin' more elusive scene lovin', how about round #4's Longings (iv) by Argus which Allstarlover says in her best British accent is "bloody hilarious!"

For a list of all the Scenes from the Attic so far, check out the righ sidebar.

Your Fanisode is proving to be quite a celeb-maker.

Hot on the heels of round #1's Luna Foxx (a.k.a. "Ratgurrlz") getting some love from the Associated Press and New Jersey's Star Ledger (see Local Fame for Fanisode Winner), two other winners are making names for themselves.

Tess Whitehurst (below-right), round #3's winning scribe, is prominently featured in The Minneapolis Star-Tribune. And, Leslie Wither Samenuk from round #4 gets a nice mention in The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Check-out the actual stories...

Look, what the stars of our favorite show do when they're not shooting The L Word is their business. But, it's our business too! And, when the final season 3 episode airs on March 26th, we want to know where to find them.

It's pretty well-known at this point that Ms. Erin Daniels (dearly departed Dana Fairbanks) has served her final L Word ace and will soon volley jokes instead of tennis balls in a sitcom over at Fox called Julie Reno, Bounty Hunter.

But, did you also know that our beloved Sarah Shahi (Carmen Morales) has her own sitcom gig? Yup, she'll be playing a teacher on the new NBC laugher Teachers, which premieres Tues., March 28th @ 9:30pm.

And, not to be left out, the irresistible Katherine Moennig (Shane McCutcheon) is taking the high-road to Broadway. Well, off-Broadway to be exact. Ms. Moennig will be appearing in the Iraq war-themed play Guardians. Previews start April 1st  and the play runs April 11th - May 25th. Also, read the story in Playbill.

Whether Moennig or Shahi will be returning to The L Word in season 4 is unknown at this time. (They better!) But, we'll clue you in as soon as we find out!

I'm still in shock over Sunday's episode. What went so wrong with Dana's health? Why did she have to go without a loved one at her bedside? Part of me wants to blame Tanya for that. Tanya!

I feel so bad for Alice. All she wanted to do was love Dana, then when it mattered the most, she was convinced to take a moment for herself. How will she ever let that go? And then the horrific singing daisy! Holy crap! It makes me feel like Max after a testosterone overdose! Tough times for our girls in so many ways...

Thankfully, we'll always have DVD, on-demand, etc. And, of course, having Dana in our fanisode takes on a new poignancy.

Here are a few of good forum threads where you can vent...

Anyone Else Mad...?
Save Dana

And, here's The New York Times today on Dana's demise: As the Plot Thickens, No One Is Safe

And, because we love Erin Daniels, here's The Futon Critic on Ms. Daniels' new gig: JULIE RENO, BOUNTY HUNTER (FOX) (scroll down to middle of page)

Of course, the whole plotline of Dana's demise underscores the very serious issue of breast cancer. If you'd like to help or get more info, here are the organizations mentioned after last night's episode:

L Word leading ladies Laurel Holloman (Tina), Daniela Sea (Moira/Max), creator Ilene Chaiken and author Kera Bolonik greeted fans at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square this past Wednesday to autograph copies of Bolonik's new book THE L WORD: Welcome to Our Planet.

The women were in high spirits as they met the long line of fans snaking through dozens of store aisles. When we spoke with them, Ms. Holloman confessed that some of the fans were a little angry with her this week referring to her hetero infidelity from the most recent episode. Speaking glowingly of the fans and the Fanisode, Ms. Chaiken expressed her desire to do more such events in the future.

We'll give that sentiment 5 stars!

ErvinV, our winner from round #2 has dusted off a previously lost scene for us...

Lepton by Aspen1821 is from round #1 and Ervin says that "Bette seems possessed by some long-dead, tuna tartar-loving sci fi author" and the whole thing feels like a mash-up of "David Lynch, Poppy Z. Brite, Bret Easton Ellis, Crispin GLover, Sarah Silverman, and Charie Kaufman." Wow, that's quite a crowd.

Check out Lepton for yourself.

Cruise around the forums a bit and you'll discover some pretty lively discussions.

Tina (the slut) - When Tina made it with her new guy-pal in the last episode, it elicited some pretty strong reactions. Frankly, I think she's just going through a phase and will soon be lusting girls and back with Bette. What say you?

Dana's Demise - Naturally, the potential loss of one of our leading ladies has the boards abuzz with predictions, rumors, and reactions. (See also Erin Daniels *Spoiler*, if you dare)

Post Your Pictures and Tattoos - Time to put some faces (and some body art) to those cryptic usernames everyone uses around the site.

Parody Thread - Some of us feel the need to make fun of what we love. Maybe we need to do an entire contest devoted to the hilarious art of L Word parodies... a funnysode?

Suggest a Character - And, don't forgot to get in your two cents about what kinds of new characters should be introduced the our L world. In a couple of days, we'll turn it into a poll and invite you to vote for your fave!

We're inaugurating a new feature on the blog.

You know all those scenes you come across that you really like, but for some reason don't make the cut? Sometimes they're parodies. Sometimes they're not parodies, but really funny anyway. Sometimes they're "off-mission." And, sometimes they're just "too good" for this "fascist contest."

Well, we want to rescue those underappreciated gems from obscurity and post them here. If they're good enough, we may even include them in the Fanisode eZine that we're publishing at the end of the event with all the winning scenes, submitter profiles and lots of other cool stuff.

So, to kick things off, round #3 winner Tess has recognized round #1's Bettenator submitted by fanatic (a.k.a. Beverly from California).

"I had tears rolling down my eyes reading this parody!" Tess says.

Read & enjoy Bettenator for yourself.

There's also an event at Book Soup (8818 W Sunset Blvd) in West Hollywood, CA on Sat. March 11th @ 5pm.

Luna Foxx, our round #1 winner, received a very nice mention about her success in New Jersey's The Star Ledger:

Excerpt: The contest's first round ... was won by two Garden State residents, domestic partners Luna and Renee Foxx of Browns Mills. They're freelance writers (Luna's a screenwriter and journalist, Renee's a poet) who run an animal rescue operation that finds caretakers for domesticated rats.

Of course, you knew The L Word was hot. But, major news outlets can't get over the show's recent surge in popularity. While mainstream success can be a little scary, it's already contributed to the shows recent renewal for a fourth season. Maybe with a little more fan-power, they'll decide to stretch the seasons beyond 13 episodes.

Showtime Goes to 'L' and Back Again - The New York Post

Word is officially out on Showtime's 'L Word' - The Hollywood Reporter

New characters are introduced on the show all the time, and now we want to hear about what kinds of people you'd like to see. We recently opened the topic up for discussion. Later, we'll consolidate your ideas into a survey and let you vote for your favorite.

So, what's it gonna be?
