Right you are...just a television show. We lesbians were naive to think we'd get a show about us. We're just the bit players who really want to be men or want to be with them...constant theme of our lives. Is IC straight?
With all the lesbians on the show who just have to have sex or relationships with men, you'd think this was another version of Desparate Housewives with a twist.
The L Word started out great but the writers and producers just couldn't keep the boys out of the story lines, now could they?
One of these days, MAYBE someone will have the "balls" to do a show about women who dig women, without all of the boy stuff.
Damn, they wear me out. What's next? Bette dating a man?

Hey Rudd,
Not advocating no male gay couples...correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember any gay men on QAF who were going back to women...that theme would have been blasphemy.
My point is that we had to endure the Jenny/Tim thing, the Jenny/aquarium guy thing, and now the Jenny/Moira/Max thing, the Tina/David (or whatever his name is thing), the Kit/Angus thing, the Alice/bisexual thing, the Alice/Lisa-male identified thing and now Dana's departure.
Give me a break - how about some simple girl/girl normal relationships, or girl/girl drama, or guy/guy, or just a little more normal queer and a lot less straight. Is that too much to ask for a so-called groundbreaking show that was supposed to be primarily about lesbians?

Thanks, Kate. Yeah, I did. I know it's a show, but it's a
show that I feel passionatly about. I've been hopelessly addicted
since season 1. I also think it will probobly fall on deaf ears,
but I couldn't just let Dana go without a fight! LOL

Sadly, a petition won't bring back a dead character (it couldn't bring back Xena an she had died and was resurrected numerous times). The only good thing that came of it was that Rob Tapert, who totally flipped the bird to the show's fans, hasn't done much of anything since that show killed off the main character and the show ended.

At the risk of sounding cold, I actually liked last week's episode. While of course I was upset about Dana's death (my sister, her partner, and I were all in tears well after the credits stopped rolling), I understood why the writers of the show chose to make the difficult decision of killing off a major character. Breast cancer is a huge issue for women right now, as I'm sure you all know. Like any disease, it does not discriminate, but could take the life of anyone, beloved lesbian tennis players included. I don't think that simply presenting the issue is justification for Dana's death. However, this storyline has gone further than that. It has portrayed a very realistic part of life, the loss of a loved one. It has shown how much we take for granted that we and all those we love will wake up tomorrow morning. I think explaining all of that away in a dream would be a step back and cop-out for the writers of this brilliant show after such a bold move. I think the backlash that this has received is a credit to them as well, for creating characters so easy to fall in love with that we can't let them go without a good fight. So now I say goodbye today with a heavy heart, but no thoughts of canceling my Showtime subscription.
I look forward to Erin Daniel's return in our fan written episode!

As much as I like watching this show if I am honest I have to say the writers really missed the mark, Dana was the latest. Helena going from sinner to saint in 6 months, please. Poor editing in the 1st show where we all saw the mic on Carmen. Alice a little too insane and we saw little or no support with her break-up. When Bette & Tina split there was a lot of support from everyone. When Dana leaves Alice and ALice goes insane we see nothing from her friends but instead Bette asks what med is she on this week,
As far as Dana is concern I quess we can console ourselves with seeing Dana thru flash backs and memory sequences in season 4. If this was such a huge loss for all of these friends there is no way someone isn't going to have dreams about her especially ALice (hint, hint L Word)
But if you are serious about getting her back I suggest 1 of 2 solutions.
1. It was all a dream, hey it worked with Bobby Ewing on Dallas
2. One or two of the charactors come down off of a really bad high and imagined everything. This way you can have a do-over for the whole season. Scrap what didn't work keep what did and then those two charactors who imagined it can have dejavu throughout season 4 with the scenes you keep.
